This single family Upper East Side townhouse was created from a building that had previously been subdivided into four separate apartments. It was completely reinvented. In the finished home, each trim detail is a custom element. Proportioned for the space it occupies, the baseboards, window and door casings, crown moldings and other millwork details are referential to historical details, yet they are more straight edged than precedent and give the spaces a clean and tailored look. The interior details are contextual, yet modern, and feel timeless. The furniture and decoration are also by Kinlin Rutherfurd.
